Sumitomo Electric began research and development of cemented carbide in 1927. The following year, we succeeded in developing cemented carbide dies for wire drawing and launched our cemented carbide tool business. Since then, we have continuously developed new materials, including CBN, various coated grades, and cutting tools featuring innovative designs and properties, achieving improved productivity and reduced processing costs in machining fields.
